At Tonic Education, we create content that informs, engages, and sparks conversation. To measure the effectiveness of our palliative care video, we conducted neuroscience testing, audience surveys, and expert interviews.
The Brief
The brief was to create a video encouraging health consumers to discuss palliative care with their GPs, a subject fraught with cultural taboos and sensitivity. With a limited budget, we had to find innovative ways to convey the importance of these conversations without compromising on quality or respect. The project demanded a careful balance of empathetic messaging and creative resource management to produce a compelling and effective video that would resonate with the target audience.
Neuroscience Insights
Using EEG technology, we tracked brain activity in 45 Australians (18-60 years), measuring:
✅ Attention – Stronger than industry benchmarks
✅ Cognitive Load – Clear, impactful messaging with high retention
Consumer Survey
📌 88% found the video engaging
📌 73% said it increased their understanding of palliative care
📌 90% would discuss palliative care with someone they knew
Practice Manager Interviews
We conducted one-on-one interviews with practice managers to gather qualitative feedback:
💬 “I liked how it was short and didn’t waffle on. Using words like ‘death’ was really effective—it kept attention and didn’t sugarcoat it.”
— Amber Meaclem, Practice Manager
💬 “The visuals were powerful, and I appreciated that the couple in the video weren’t the ‘typical’ people you’d expect to talk about end-of-life care. It was a dynamic and refreshing approach.”
— Jenn Klip, Practice Manager
This study confirms that Tonic Education’s content is not just informative—it sparks real conversations and drives understanding. The palliative care video resonated deeply with audiences, combining emotional connection with clarity. With strong engagement and impact across neuroscience testing, audience surveys, and expert interviews, this content stands as a powerful tool in improving awareness and discussions around palliative care.
