Sam Mostyn AO
Sam Mostyn AO is a driving force in business and sustainability, and has curated a distinguished career across diverse sectors. From boardrooms to sport, climate change to government, her expertise and dedication have positively impacted countless lives.
Her current board positions at Mirvac, Climate Change Authority, Tonic Media Network, and Beyond Blue serve as a testament to her wide-ranging influence. As a powerful advocate for diverse leadership, Sam also has a broad portfolio of other roles. These include chairing Aware Super, ANROWS, Alberts, Ausfilm, AIIW, FYA, and the Climate Council. Additionally, she has an extensive portfolio of past board memberships with organisations such as the Women’s Economic Equality Taskforce, Chief Executive Women, Citi Australia, the GO Foundation, and the Women’s Economic Opportunities Review.
Sam is a longstanding member of the Faculty of Cambridge University’s Business & Sustainability Leadership Program and is also a former commissioner of the UN Global Business and Sustainable Development Commission.
In 2005, she then broke new ground by becoming the first woman appointed to the AFL Commission, passionately advocating for women’s inclusion at all levels and paving the way for the AFL Women’s League. Today, she still remains a vocal champion for female athletes across the sporting landscape.
She was awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2021 for her distinguished service to business, gender equity, and sustainability, acknowledging her profound impact on numerous organisations and all women. Earlier, in 2018, the Australian National University bestowed upon her an Honorary Doctorate of Laws in recognition of her pioneering work in gender inclusion and equity, and her leadership in sustainability and climate change.
